Bodrum

Bodrum sits on a peninsula on Turkey's Aegean coast and is the main charter base in the region. The modern town stands over ancient Halicarnassus; the castle on the headland and the marina below it are the two fixed points of the waterfront.

Bodrum Castle and Underwater Archeology Museum

Bodrum Castle houses the Museum of Underwater Archeology, with medieval artifacts and finds recovered from wrecks in the Aegean.

Halicarnassus Mausoleum

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was the tomb of the Carian king Mausolus, who moved his capital here from Mylasa, and was counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. What stands on the site now are earlier stairways and tombs, the narrow entry to the tomb chamber, the drainage system and fluted marble column drums.

Ada Bogazi, also called the Bodrum Aquarium Bay, is a channel between the mainland and a small island off Bodrum. The water is clear and shallow, and a hut on the island across the channel keeps ducks and geese.
